Hey Everyone,

I'm trying to spread the word about a new resource I've built for RC enthusiasts called the Servo Database.

The goal of this project is to have detailed, organized information for every RC servo in existence. (Currently the database has 1,792 servos.) I've always had to spend a lot of time research servos when I build a new project, and I think the Servo Database will make this process much easier.

I've tried to make it easy to quickly view and compare different servos. You can also search the database in an advanced manner (e.g. find all Futaba servos weighing less than 7 grams) and you can read reviews of the servos.

Hope you like it,
volare

VOLARE,

You deserve many thanks for your data base.

I can barely imagine the amount of work you have done for the benefit of the hobbyists.

A million thanks . . .

KILOP

Hi Volare, welcome to the forum.

That's a huge amount of work you've done, and you're providing an excellent and invaluable resource that went straight in to my bookmarks - hats off to you, and thanks for the effort!

I'll add the site to my resources page of the main website ;-)

Volare, thanks for the great link and the work you have put into this. It will be very helpful. I was just looking for servos for my next plane and this will come in very handy.

Just for everyone's information I have decided upon my next build. It will be a 1/4 scale Bristol M1.c, specifically the one flown by the Australian WWI pilot Harry Butler. It's known as the "Red Devil".

Very nice Jeff - what does 1/4 scale put the wingspan at?

The wingspan is 92 1/4 inches or a little over 2.3 meters for my European friends. It will be a complicated build since I will be making it for scale competition. That means no servos showing anywhere and everything done as it was on the real thing.

The real plane is in a museum in Minlaton, South Australia. I have contacted the museum to see if I can get some detailed photos. For those who know what an RAF Bristol M1.c looked like, it had a large spinner, as wide as the fuselage. Harry Butler's M1.c on the other hand does not have one, so that will make things a bit easier instead of needing to fabricate and balance a spinner that large. Of course I will need to fabricate a dummy radial engine, but at least it doesn't need to be balanced. I hope to have it completed by next April or May. KILOP was instrumental in my choice. He inadvertently guided me away from my original choice of a Rumpler Taube. After studying it quite a bit I decided it was much too difficult for my skill level. Maybe in a few years.
