Pete
I think I just have too much of a big mouth and keen to try to help.

With apologies for my big mouth.

Hey Paul, don't worry! As you rightly say, there are different ways to skin a cat, or land one ;-)

You're landing procedure outlined above is the correct 'by the book' method, I think it's fair to say, and I'll admit that mine does cut a few corners here and there. My reasoning is that the majority of my site visitors who'll actually read those lessons will be the park flyer folks with a little 3 or 4 channel electric plane, flying from open space with no defined runway.
Hence, my landing circuit is aimed at getting them on the ground safely, without overwhelming them with trying to remember how to fly the perfect landing pattern in relation to a centre line etc.
And yes, the base leg on the video isn't the best of base legs, I have to say! My own base legs are as they should be, rather than the continuous turn shown on the vid - I'll redo that when I get a chance ;-)

As for height, I've always found that a tricky one to relay because of various factors. I state 10m / 30' or so because that's what I'm personally used to flying - we used to judge our downwind leg by the full-size windsock at the field, which was 10m tall. Obviously larger and faster planes need bigger and higher landing circuits but, again, our little electric RTF friends are who I've got in mind :-)

No harm done, and don't delete the posts!!

PS And neither of us have talked about a straight-in approach, which is perfectly do-able with an RC plane!
